How to Customize Your iPhone Home Screen with Widgets

Start with a wallpaper and one useful widget, then build a consistent color palette around them. You can change the appearance of iPhone icons and widgets in iOS, arrange widgets in different sizes, and add a more playful focal point such as a virtual aquarium. The best setup is the one you can still use comfortably every day.

1. Pick a wallpaper with room for your widgets

Look for an image with a quieter area where text and widget content will sit. A busy photo can make a clock or calendar hard to read. If you want an ocean theme, try a blue or sea-green wallpaper with open space near the top or center, then use one aquarium widget as the visual accent.

2. Choose widgets by purpose

• Information: weather, calendar, reminders or battery for things you check often.
• Personal: photos, quotes or colors that match your wallpaper.

Try one larger widget or two smaller ones first. Leave space for the apps you open most. A screen full of decorative widgets may look polished in a screenshot but become difficult to navigate.

3. Add and arrange the widgets

4. Check readability and visual balance

View your Home Screen in both light and dark surroundings. If a tinted icon or widget becomes hard to read, reduce the tint or change the wallpaper. Keep related apps together and move rarely used apps to another page or the App Library. An aquarium works well as a focal point beside simple information widgets rather than several competing animated elements.

1. Choose a calm teal or deep-blue wallpaper.
2. Add a clock or calendar widget at the top.
